What’s the value of the returning days?

By our Data Engineering group

"The return days are a great opportunity to reunite together and share our experiences at our clients. In addition, we spend time working together on various projects that help us explore new technological tools that would help us now and in the future. Not only that, but the personal development trainings provide us with better insights about who we are as people and how we can work and communicate with other people from business and technology. In short, return days is how we connect, collaborate, share knowledge and grow together."

“The return days are a great way to help you gain insights about the challenges that companies face in the Data Engineering field, and how to approach them, by having the inputs from all the xccelerators and both our great coaches. Those challenges can be technical or personal, because let's face it, sometimes humans also have bugs and the personal development training helps us with that. The coaches, the xccelerators, and all the people at GDD are great professionals who you can have discussions about the technology industry or any other interesting topic. Finally, it is always great to play ping pong and have drinks with everyone at the office.”

“The comeback days have a special value for me. A month of training together with the same colleagues creates a great bond with them. Together, we gained a lot of knowledge during these first month and at the comeback days we share our new knowledge and stories of our workplaces at our clients. The goal of these days doesn’t end there. We also extend our knowledge and cover completely new topics in the data engineering space. Even though the planning of the comeback day is different each time, in the end we always manage to also add some time in the schedule for a couple matches of ping pong.”

“ What I like is that every week we exchange our experience and knowledge we gained/used at the client. It provides us the opportunity to understand what's going on in different groups/companies. Sometimes we also exchange our challenges to each other and we always receive some helpful suggestions, which helps us to release the pressure.”

“During the return days I go back to our amazing office at the Wibaut (free lunch again!) and meetup with my fellow data engineers. It’s nice to catch up and and I think it’s very valuable to check what the others are doing at their client. This way, I’m always updated on what’s happening in the data engineering field at big some companies in The Netherlands. When anyone in the group faces struggles with their work, we help each other out. Moreover, our trainer Emanuel is always there to help with problems or to give us advice. Also, we often play some games of pingpong and have a few beers at the bar making our return day a very useful and fun day.”
